Gemma Joanne Pearson

Hi everybody,

I had a lovely phone call from Mrs Lesely Pearson this week, to thank the club for our donation. As you know, we try to support a couple of 'local' causes each year, rather than give our donations to the larger concerns. This year is no exception. Here is an extract from the fundraising appeal for Gemma .........

"Our dear daughter Gemma Joanne Pearson, had a dream of living in Spain. Her dream came true when she bought a property out there. But her dream came to a tragic end. Gemma was diabetic and had been for five year. After being out there only two months, she fell into a diabetic coma  which brought on a massive seizure, this has unfortunately left our daughter brain dead with no chance of recovery or even coming out of a coma. The brain stem was not damaged . Gemma  has a strong heart and is able to breath on her own without life support. So we are trying to raise funds  to get Gemma back to the UK.. and also towards her lifetime care.
Anything raised or donated at anytime will  be appreciated"

Hi everyone, we received the email and certificate below earlier this week from the nurses at BRI. Thank you to everybody who took part in this year's Toy Run and in particular to those of you who took the time and trouble to also bring along all the toys, books, pens, pencils etc. Thank you too to all of the locals (non bikers) who also brought their donations up to the rally site. Much appreciated.

Cheers
The Wrecking Crew HDC

"Hi Pete & everyone at Harley Davidson – The Wrecking Crew

On behalf of Bradford Hospitals’ Charity we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for all the wonderful toys, books, crayons, colouring books etc. you donated at the recent Baildon Rally, once again we are extremely grateful to all your members for their generosity and kindness shown to the children’s wards and departments here at the hospital.  Your gifts have been shared out between the Children & Young People’s Unit, A&E Paediatrics, Ward 2 (surgical day case unit) and the children we look after in the community.

We have enclosed a Certificate of Appreciation, put it on your website and be very proud of all you achieved.  We look forward to keeping in touch, please do not hesitate to get in touch if there’s anything else you think we could be involved with.

Kindest regards

Hayley & Elaine

Charity Update : February 2019

Hi all,
Earlier this months we received the following lovely email from Lucy Deakin, who is Eliza's mum. As you know we have tried to 'do our bit' to offer a little help and support Eliza for the past few years. Here is what Lucy said:

"Dear Anne-Marie, Kevin & the Harley Baildon Rally,

Thank you so much for thinking of us again this Christmas. It was so lovely to see you, Anne-Marie, and for the kids to be able to say hi as well. The gift you have given us - this year and in the past - is so touching and we are truly thankful to you. I'm going to take the girls away for a couple of days in half term up to Glasgow for a little holiday, and they are so looking forward to it.

Last week marked 6 years since Eliza was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, and I've attached some pictures from over those 6 years. There have been so many obstacles and bumps along the way, but we finally feel we are turning a corner. In November Eliza got to ring the 'end of treatment bell' and her whole London treatment team came out to wish her well. This means that they consider her tumours stable enough to not need to be checked under anaesthetic anymore (after 80+ general anaesthetics over the years!), and we have had our visits reduced down to 6 monthly check ups in London. This is a massive change to where we were at a couple of years ago, with hospital visits on a weekly basis at some points and a lot of uncertainty about how successful treatment would be.

Eliza is registered partially sighted, and needs one-to-one support at school, but is such a bright little girl and always has a smile. We couldn't have asked for more courage and resilience from her!

As Eliza's path is smoother now than it has ever been in the past, we'd love for you to be able to offer your Christmas gift to another family in need next year. It has been such a highlight for our girls to have a trip and a treat as a result of the money you have given us, and we would love for another family to be able to experience that at a difficult time. Thank you so much x

With love and best wishes to you all,

Lucy, Jamie, Megan, Freya, Eliza & Rowan x"

2018 Rally - Charity Update

11/3/2018

Hi everybody,

Just a quick update on the charity donations front. As you all know, this year was particularly bad from a weather perspective, with fewer riders attending the rally and then the wash out for our Sunday ride-out. However, having done the sums, I am happy to announce that we are still in a position where we can do something to support our chosen charities. All donations come from profit made from the banner, raffles, tea & coffee donations and ticket sales. So far we have donated to :

Baildon Rugby Club : Youth Development fund

Haworth RDA (Riding for the Disabled)

Elisa Deakin : local girl that we support

There are still a couple more small donations that we are yet to make. Watch this space.

Hopefully, we should have some piccys to post fairly soon.

As always, the Sunday Ride-Out gave rally attendees and ride out attendees the opportunity to donate toys, books, pens, pencils etc for the Children's Ward at the BRI. Even though there was only a small turnout due to the weather, there were still lots of donations and as always, the BRI were very grateful, so thank you to everybody who donated. Very much appreciated.
